About Bevis Marks

Bevis Marks, The City’s bustling kosher restaurant moved to larger premises on January 9th, 2012. New features include a nice bar area where salt beef sandwiches and gourmet burgers can be enjoyed as well as a private dining room. Bevis Marks’ success has been all the more remarkable as its previous premises was notoriously hard to find. The new spacious venue situated in Middlesex Street goes back to Jewish roots “When Cromwell decreed that The Jewish people could come back to Britain over 300 years ago, Middlesex Street became the hub of London Jewish culture.
Head Chef Anthony Broster spent several years in New Zealand, where he met his wife before coming back to live in Britain. He was previously at Smith’s of Smithfield. Consequently, his dishes are modern British with a New World twist and his winter menu includes Bevis Marks favourite, shredded salt beef with Thai herb and noodle and peanut salad and cured duck breast, cauliflower mash and cranberry clove salsa.

G-R-E-A-T. Thank you

Bevis Marks, new venue is good.

This was a treat especially for my friend who wanted to visit Bevis Marks and experience a meal in a kosher restaurant. The meal was generally good as was the service. There are sadly too few kosher restaurants in the centre of London, so this one that provides well-presented food in lovely surroundings is most welcome; this appears to be born out by the busy lunchtime activity.

Nice meal, interesting set up

Dear Bevis Marks team...I love your restuarant, but your chairs are so uncomfortable,

The Bevis Marks Restaurant in Algate is very nice, quite small, and provides a useful option in a part of town where there are no other kosher restaurants. The food was lovely, but the kosher 'overhead' in terms of price is hefty - I reckoned we paid 30% more than for equivalent food in a non-kosher restaurant (£43 per person including a non-alcoholic drink and coffee, main course and dessert). Good service, though they might have taken my drinks order while I was waiting for my dinner guest...

Very pleasant atmosphere although quite quiet when we first arrived. Interesting mix of clientele including business people and couples. Service was very good and not too intrusive. Staff were happy to make recommendations and quick to respond. Interesting architecture and location.

The Bevis Marks always satisfies our Jewish colleagues, and being experts in kosher cuisine their opinion is that this is one of the best.

Lunch at Bevis Marks, London yesterday was very good. Mixed vegetarian and meat menus - well presented and tasty. Service attentive and discrete. Price a little higher than expected for east end of City but as it is a kosher restaurant that is to be expected.

Lovely restaurant. Fantastic food and great location.

We ate at the Kosher restaurant at Bevis Marks in London. It was significantly overpriced with minimal service. We sat for a long time before being offered drinks. All 4 of us ordered salt beef, Of the four plates 2 were fine and 2 looked a very different colour and texture.

We complained and were told that the two that didn't look right came from an earlier piece of meat that had been kept in the fridge while the other two were fresh!

A fairly ordinary meal for a great deal of money!

Dinner at Bevis Marks for a friends birthday. The food was nice and service was good.

We had a fantastic evening at Bevis Marks. The staff were very attentive, whilst not over bearing. And although the restaurant was not particularly busy, the table were arranged to give an intimate dining experience. The food was great, a combintation of classic and innovative dishes.

Nice enough meal but overpriced for what is was and a very limited and very expensive wine list

Took a group from work here and the service and food were great. Everyone has commented how much they enjoyed the evening.

Enjoyable and good service - meal was good, client was happy - will recommend
