Locanta Birmingham. A pleasant enough experience. Music was a little loud. Restaurant was fairly quiet, only two other tables occupied when we arrived early evening, but still had to wait quite a while to be asked if we would like to order drinks. We had bread & olives to start which were nice. I had chicken parmiggiano for main and my partner had Sloppy Giuseppe pizza which he said was very good. Ran out of time for dessert due to having to wait ages to be asked so just asked for the bill.

Food here was good, service also reasonable. The only disappointment was the ambience which is rather stark. They are currently undergoing renovations which may fix this but in the middle of dinner the boarding covering some of the building work collapsed behind me almost hitting me and hitting the table opposite. Music could do with a refresh too.

Very nice meal that met all expectations. I would recommend Locanta in Birmingham.

Found Locanta listed on toptable and and because the reviews were good i thought we would try it and we were not disappointed, the garlic bread we had for starters was nice and the chicken with mushrooms and salmon pasta was very nice, we even had a yummy dessert, would go again

Although vegetarian options were limited, food was good. This meal was organised with colleagues, and although I enjoy a nice, relaxed atmosphere usually, I could see colleagues were getting inpatient with service. Enjoyable with a group of friends but maybe not so when needing to finish meal by certain time.

We visited Locanta (Birmimgham)for my mothers birthday, the whole family turned up and we all thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. The meal was very good, value for money and the service was great. We recieved all our food orders on time and the waitresses were very attentive to all of our requests.

We were left alone to enjoy the afternoon and were not rushed in any manner.

We would go again.

Staff and restaurant itself were lovely, but the food was absolutely awful - not restaurant standard. I could have made a better meal at home and I can't cook. Starters were served with packet salad on the side, the kind you can find for £1 at Tesco’s. Ridiculously overpriced considering the standard of the food.

Locanta, in Birmingham was very nice. Food was very light and the ambience of the restaurant was very nice, great place for couples, didn't sit upstairs but i've heard it has good views. Certainly a place we will be going to again.

Nice buzz here-- very attentive staff. Good to have different fatre from the chains. Well worth another visit.

Booked Sunday lunch on the weekend before Christmas & were more than a little shocked to find we were the only party in the whole restaurant! Although a lack of atmosphere, the waitress was attentive and did her best to look after us. The food was a real mixed affair - the fish specials pretty good but the desserts were a definite disappointment. The chocolate cake cloying and sickly and the banana crepe ordered in place of the cheesecake was like rubber and inedible. But we werent charged!

I took my husband to lunch at Locanta, Birmingham. I was very disappointed with the calamari as the batter was very soggy. The spicy chicken wrap was very dry and did not taste spicy at all. On the whole it was ok but not really anything special.

As a couple we went to the restaurant to enjoy a nice meal together, however ended up being sat downstairs, where 2 larger groups (6+ people) were also sat, and they were pretty noisy, messing about etc. After reading other reviews here I'm not sure why we wern't sat upstairs. I wasn't happy with my main course, but they changed it for something else without fuss, and it arrived quickly, which was impressive. Food ok, neither better or worse than any other basic italian in brum.

Very pleased with our visit to Locanta, Birmingham. The atmosphere was lively, service good and food was also good.

We had a pleasant meal as we always do here, staff are friendly and food is very good value for money.

The menu was extensive and looked impressive but not soley Italian - lots of Greek items also. We ordered a bottle of Shiraz which was excellent & served at the right temperature. The food however was disappointing, served with moutains of limp salad with 'claggy' french dressing. The Swordfish was the highlight as it was perfectly cooked and meaty-what a shame the 'sauteed' potatoes (more like deep fried) & the salad let it down. Staff were friendly & attentive, toilets clean.

On a Monday night the restaurant was empty so poor ambience BUT service and food more than made up for this. Swordfish was particularly good. We were expecting Italian menu but food was Meditterannnean with Greek as well as Italian influences.

A friendly restaurant with good food and a nice setting. For some unaccountable reason, we were the only diners on a Saturday lunchtime - it should have been busier.

A pleasant restaurant with very friendly staff. Our starters and desserts were excellent; the main courses were OK but no different to the ones we've had a numerous similar restaurants. The wine was also not as impressive as it's write up but, overall, the friendliness and welcoming atmosphere made for a pleasant experience.

Had a lovely evening at Locanta on Sat, upstairs is much more comfortable than down but the toilets are a very, very long way down very steep stairs! Soup was piping hot, as it should be, Ginger mushrooms were nice but didn't taste of ginger. Steak was perfectly cooked and delicious, as were the lamb and Veal T-Bone (a first for all of us). Seabass (a special) was tasty but the other special of Monkfish was not available. Staff were very friendly and efficient and both bottles of wine excellent.
