About Tao Tao Ju

In London’s Chinatown it takes a special kind of restaurant to stand out, but that’s exactly what Tao Tao Ju does. A relatively new addition to the Lisle Street scene, Tao Tao Ju is all about taking the Chinese dining experience to the next level, giving guests a touch of class and attentive service as well as great food straight from China. Elegantly decorated, the Tao Tao Ju dining room has plenty of traditional touches, including rows of red and gold paper lanterns in its windows and dark wood latticework panels but the understated colour scheme and simple contemporary furnishings are upmarket and chic. Food is all about flavour here, with great care taken to produce authentic versions of both favourite Chinese regional dishes and house specialties inspired by the home and restaurant cooking of the country’s diverse cities and villages.

The dining area at the back was fairly subdued. The service was very good. The food was fine but not exceptional.

Tao Tao Ju in Soho has incredible service compared to its competitors in the area. We had fabulous duck and even the egg fried rice tasted better than the norm. The service was really the best I have experieneced in the last few years and this palce really stands out in Chinatown. The ambience is also heads and shoulders above the other chinese restaurants nearby - clean white table cloths and a tasteful decor. Great for a date.

I went to Tao Tao Ju in Chinatown yestersday. The food was ok. Standard Chinese fare. Service was a bit slow, although the staff was quite friendly. Try their fresh fruit juice. It was very nice.

Three of us went to Tao Tao Ju on a Thursday before theatre. The deco was nice and clean - better than some other chinese restaurants in China Town. The food came very quickly and were good, but not brilliant. Portion was a bit small considering the price.
