About Wine & Bread

Portuguese in everything but location Wine & Bread has been called the best restaurant of its type in town – not bad when you consider ‘town’ refers to no less than London. A family run café, restaurant and lounge bar in the Hendon area of North West London, Wine & Bread is at once family friendly and extremely grown up, the concept appealing to both daytime diners and late night lounge lizards. Husband and wife team Marcia and Kadir, bring years of experience in five star hotels and restaurants to their own venture, providing not only a taste and passion for food, but an eye for design and a desire to provide the best possible service and relaxing atmosphere all at once. Mediterranean in flavour, Wine & Bread’s menu is typically Portuguese, recalling the best dishes enjoyed during those balmy summer’s evenings on the Algarve or in languid weekends in Lisbon. A carefully selected, concise wine list includes not only Portuguese grapes but the best of the world’s wine producing regions.

I took a young lady with me who like me is a "foodie", and we had a WONDERFUL Lunch. We were especially spoiled by the Owner who served us and he gave an excellent recommendation on the choice of wine.

This Restaurant has no pretensions, it is a simple, clean and extremely well positioned to take any guests through a true Portuguese dining experience.

We will CERTAINLY return soon

Visited Wine & Bread (Portugese restaurant in Church Road, Hendon) last night. Just using up the TopTable points we had saved up so wasn't quite sure what to expect. Very pleasantly surprised actually with a simple, rustic restaurant that feels very authentic and which is clearly loved by the local Portugese community. Great service with hot, tasty food and good wine. Give it a try - you might be as surprised as we were!

went for the free toptable deal with my Portuguese girlfriend..not impressed..chorizo in a Yorkshire pudding for starter. Chorizo was good but a yorkshire pudding.. I mean really! come on. chicken main was the offel offcuts...not great..flavour was good. salad boring. very disappointing. Not a nice area luckily I drive and the restaurant empty...guess they need the customers. shame they had some things on the menu that looked interesting, but not on deal. might have come back if it wasn't so mediocre.

Our first visit to Wine & Bread was a very pleasant experience. Enjoyed the food, very friendly service and good wine. The restaurant was very quiet on a Saturday lunchtime but that was fine for us as it was a cosey, welcoming environment. Would visit again if in the area.

This was my second visit to Wine & Bread in Hendon. As before, we were warmly greeted and promptly seated. The starters were very good and actually quite filling! Main courses were well cooked, seasoned and delicious- we had the grilled octopus and the grilled squid with prawn. Both of us struggled to finish our mains! Service was friendly and polite throughout. Would go again and definitely recommend.

An authentic Portuguese environment with an excellent atmosphere and service. I certainly enjoyed my first experience here, and will be back again

friendly staff but average food tho

Amazing restaurant, wonderful time and it

Food was very tasty. And service was very good. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant to a friend.

Went to Wine and Bread in Hendon for Sunday lunch with the family. Good, homey atmosphere and tasty fresh food and overall good value for money and would recommend.

I visited Wine and Bread in Hendon with my husband for a mid-week toptable reward meal. We have visited before and as ever the staff were very friendly and the restaurant offered no fuss great value food. One of my favourite dishes, a flaming Portuguese sausage was served in a Yorkshire pudding instead which lost some of its appeal but it still tasted very authentic. The wine menu has been updated offering a fantastic selection at very reasonable prices.

Went to Wine and Bread in Hendon with my boyfriend to redeem our top table points. Was a really lovely little venue (if a little out of the way), decorated like someone home. people serving us were really friendly, and the food was tasty - and a decent range of food available on the points redemption menu as well. I had chorico and then steak which were very tasty and my boyfriend enjoyed his clams too. The piri-piri sauce is amazing! Nice Portuguese wine too.

Charming family run restaurant....looks nothing from outside but worth going inside and indulging!

Nice relaxed atmosphere. Great for a midweek dinner or a less formal one. Great friendly staff and service. Fish was very well cooked, wished I had only ordered fish courses. Other food well cooked but not having a wow factor.

Wonderfully quaint and cosy place. Horribly eclectic and loud music though. Very good home cooking. Redeemed reward for 1 pax. Set menu a bit dull compared to a la carte. Had clams for starters and beef, egg & chips Portuguese style. Perfectly adequate and good ingredients. Had a very very good bottle of Douro red at reasonably priced £17. Highly recommended if in the area and we will attempt a revisit some time

Wine & Bread Hendon. We went last night using the reward points offer. A very cosy and friendly place. Starters of Portuguese Sausage and Clams were very tasty. Had the steak for main, which I asked to be medium rare, however it came fairly well done - however it was still tasty. The house wine was cheap but very pleasant. Mains came with rice and chips which was slightly quirky!

Our most recent visit to Wine and Bread Hendo was as good as our first time there. We went for the fish dishes (salted cod and salmon) this time. Both tasty. We would also recommend the traditional Portuguese dessert!

We used reward points. The food was great especially the starters were truly excellent. Service was gentle and polite. Very unique and highly recommended!

We had a great evening there. When we first looked at the outside, we weren't really sure, but as soon as we walked into the restaurant, we felt it's a littly cosy place. The music and decorations were great and the husband and wife team gave us a very good service. We haven't had Portugese before, and to our surprise the food was delicious! It's very difficult to cook octopus as it's so easy to overcook, but mine was cooked perfectly! We would definitely go back there again.

Ambience and service great - "Wine and Bread" really does capture the mood of Portugal. We stuck with the daily specials - the fish soup was really good but the pork maybe a little over-cooked and underwhelming. Main courses, however, came with a generous portion of fresh vegetables and salad. For a rewards meal, this is an excellent choice with a good menu and reasonable wine list ... as well as our favourite Delta coffee to finish.
